Our Staff

The coaching staff at Castle Rock School of Gymnastics is exceptional, with four coaches having over 25 years of experience, plus one being a USAG judge. They are trained to work with children in a safe and enthusiastic way, while teaching basic through advanced skills in the sport. The focus of the Castle Rock School of Gymnastics staff is not only to have fun and form your child into a gymnast; it is about leadership, setting goals and life lessons. Our coaches are USAG, CPR, and safety certified. Background checks are conducted every two years on every coach.

Todd

Todd

Todd was born in Illinois, moved to Missouri at age 7, and also lived in Guayaquil, Ecuador, South America three years.  He then moved to Minnesota at the age of 11 where he competed as a USGF Gymnast at the University of Minnesota.  Todd then moved to Colorado at the age of 16, competing at Cherry Creek High School.

After graduating, Todd moved to Tempe, Arizona, and taught for six years at the Desert Devils in Scottsdale.  Upon returning to Denver in 1989, he taught at several clubs in the area and coached at several Summer Camps in Colorado and Arizona. Todd has been a professional member of USA-Gymnastics since 1984.  He has been safety certified through USA-Gymnastics since 1985 and is currently first-aid and CPR certified, as well as a certified meet Director and USA Gymnastics Skill Evaluator. While in Arizona, Todd had the opportunity to coach many National and International Elites, as well as upper level optional athletes, levels 7-10. Some of his former gymnasts have received full scholarships to schools such as Utah State University, Cal State, Fullerton, Oregon, and the University of Alaska. Todd has two children, Brandon and Aimee.

Todd had his own gymnastics club with a great group of coaches and gymnasts who are currently here at CRSG. He started CRSG’s very first Optional Competitive Team with athletes from Levels 7 through 10 during the 2008 Season. Todd hopes having the higher-level gymnasts here at CRSG will serve as an inspiration to all our gymnasts. If you have questions for Todd, please feel free to approach him when he is available.

Steve

Steve

Coach Steve started gymnastics at 13, continuing on to compete at the national level for seven years. A native of Douglas County and graduate of Ponderosa High School, he overcame significant obstacles to become an elite gymnast. At the age of 10, Steve suffered severe nerve damage in his left arm from (believe it) a unicycle/garage-door window accident. He joined Aurora School of Gymnastics three years later as part of his physical therapy recovery program. His natural ability and passion for gymnastics took over and earned him 1st place at State Championships that same year. For six years, Steve competed with ASG under coaches Gil Salazar, Mike Simonton, Ron Jackson, and occasionally, Olympian Curt Thomas, earning State Men's All-Around Champion four times, Regional Champion three times, and competing in the Junior Olympic National Championships three times before college.

Steve earned an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy and competed on the Navy gymnastics team for four years under the instruction of Olympian Peter Kormann. Steve led Navy in three Eastern Championship titles and personal qualification to the NCAA National Championships.

His favorite events are floor exercise and parallel bars. His most difficult tricks in competition were a double-twisting double-back flip on floor, an Iron Cross on rings, and a triple-flip dismount off the high bar.

Upon graduating from Annapolis, Steve served in the Navy on four different ships. He deployed four times to the Persian Gulf, Somalia, and Central America, spending more than five years at sea. He became a Navy instructor and was awarded four Navy Commendation Medals.

After his military service, Steve and his wife, Melanie, backpacked across the globe to about 60 countries in three years. His favorite places to visit were Antarctica, Cambodia, and South America.

Now back in Parker, Steve owns an importing company where he is a distributor of fine silver jewelry from Peru (Ilaria Brand) and distributor of a concentrated health drink containing the 19 most beneficial fruit juices of the world (Mona Vie Brand). He is often asked to give photo presentations of his world travels to schools, libraries, and clubs.

Steve’s love for gymnastics has brought him back to teaching at Castle Rock School of Gymnastics where he believes he can contribute most to developing young minds and bodies in self-confidence and superior physical control.

Lexy

Lexy began her gymnastics training at Aurora School of Gymnastics at the age of five. She was promoted to pre-team 6 months later and began competing when she was six, staying with ASG until level 10, when she was 15. Greg

Greg is a fourth generation native of Colorado, born at Porter Hospital. Greg graduated from Douglas County High School and completed his Bachelor’s degree from New Mexico State University.  It was at New Mexico State where Greg met a young woman named Marcie, who asked if he thought he might like kids and to try teaching some classes at her gymnastics club.  After hearing the sentence, “I did it all by myself!” from a bright young gymnast, Greg was hooked.  Since then, Greg has coached every aspect of gymnastics, from parent/tot to head coaching at his own gym for ten years, which produced numerous champions and championship teams.

A professional member of USAG since 1986, Greg served three years on the USAG state board for Colorado.  His passion for the more technical aspects of gymnastics led to becoming a member of the National Association of Women’s Gymnastics Judges, and he is currently studying for his next rating.  Greg is USAG safety certified and CPR certified.  He also has been head coach of tumbling/gymnastics for Grandview Cheer (State runner-up – National Championship finalists), Rangeview Cheer (National Champion), and is currently coaching his Alma Mater, Douglas County, along with Rock Canyon, Castle View, and former rival Ponderosa.

In his spare time, Greg tries to spend as much time with family as possible.  He enjoys playing outside:  golf, biking, hiking, and skiing.  There are four acoustic guitars in the house that are played frequently, and there are a few video games he and his daughter play together, MatchBox Beat That is currently the favorite!
